Ronlynne “Ronnie” Gurney joined Hibiscus Coast Softball Club in the 2005/06 season, bringing with her a wealth of softball knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm. From the moment she arrived, Ronnie made a significant impact on the club, helping modernise many of its operations and introducing new approaches to funding and administration.
As Secretary and Chief Scorer, Ronnie became one of the club’s key contributors behind the scenes. She played an instrumental role in improving player statistics and record keeping, helping HBC align with the standards and practices of leading clubs throughout the region.
Beyond her administrative responsibilities, Ronnie was heavily involved in organising club events, supporting fundraising initiatives, and helping drive the club’s growth. Her dedication and leadership were central to several important developments during her time with HBC, including the club’s efforts to establish itself at the premier level of softball for both men and women.
Ronnie’s commitment, professionalism, and countless volunteer hours left a lasting mark on the club. In recognition of her outstanding service and contribution, she was awarded Life Membership in 2016. She became Hibiscus Coast Softball Club’s fourth Life Member and holds the distinction of being the club’s first female Life Member.
Although Ronnie stepped away from the club in 2017, her legacy remains an important part of HBC’s history, and many of the systems and practices she helped establish continue to benefit the club today.
